Mini Session FAQs

What is a “Mini Session”?

A Mini Session is a shortened version of our Classic Session and are a perfect way for new clients to get a taste of our photography style before booking the Classic Session.

Because they’re only 20 minutes long, you don’t have to commit a lot of time to them, and Shawn makes sure the kids feel like they’re having fun and playing rather than sitting still and being forced to “act natural”.

We believe your kids should BE natural, have a great time, and laugh – those are always the best portraits.

Clients can expect to recieve between 15-30 proofs.

How is a Mini Session different than a Classic Session?

Mini Sessions are  scheduled by Shawn and include a 20-minute sessions at the location of  his choice.

Classic Sessions are at multiple locations of the clients choice and scheduled for 1 hour or more.

Is a Mini Session for everyone?

Mini Sessions are great for clients who are busy and don’t have a lot of time for a full photo session or just want a few updated photos for gifts.

Since Mini Sessions have such a limited time, they probably work best for babies who are sitting up or older children who can make the most of the short sessions.

How much does a Mini Session cost?

Mini Sessions are $60. You can book a “Double” Mini Session (50 minutes) for $110.00

Mini Session clients also receive an additional 10% off collections and ala carte pricing. A minimum order of $200 is required for all Mini Sessions.

What should we wear to the Mini Session?

Bright colors look great! They provide visual interest and make your portraits “pop”!

Whatever colors you choose, be sure to choose something you feel comfortable in.  Our style isn’t about holding still and looking flawless, it’s about capturing you being you.  Sometimes we have our subjects lay in the grass, run through fields, climb on top of trains or into abandoned buildings.  Keep that in mind when choosing your outfit.

It is also nice to bring a few changes of clothes for your photo sessions to add some spice to the photo and variety. I suggest at least two outfits, one casual and one dressy. Things you are comfortable in is best, your favorite clothes, or the outfit you would wear every day if you could. You could always buy new clothes for a session but when you are comfortable in your clothes already it makes the photosession that much easier.

Suggestions for kids:

-Bright, bold colors
-Big patterns, bright stripes, large polka dots, or whimsical prints
-Jeans, jean skirts are great for girls
-Layers, such as skirts with fun tights, or skirts with cute jackets
-Pretty dresses for girls, especially white cotton or eyelet dresses
-Sweaters with hoods, for both boys and girls
-Overalls without a shirt, for boys
-Pajamas
-Stocking hats, tasseled hats, straw hats, cowboy/girl hats, etc.
-Tiaras, tutus, butterfly wings
-Superhero capes
-Winter coats with fur hoods
-Ribbons and bows in hair
-Striped socks
-Bare feet

What Not to Wear: Anything you don’t feel comfortable in, you will seem uncomfortable in the photos. Don’t wear matching outfits. Blend your outfits and make sure you compliment each other. Also avoid black and white shirts because you tend to blend into the backgrounds.

What should we bring to the Mini Session?

We don’t include any “props” in our photo sessions, but every once in awhile it can be fun to do a couple of shots with a some whimsical additions (giant lolipops, favorite stuffed animals, guitar, etc.). We can talk about this in more depth when we book the session. If you have ideas or requests please let me know.

When will our online gallery be available?

We shoot for 7 days, but no later than two weeks after your session. Galleries are available for 14 days and password protected. You can extend your gallery for an addtional 14 days for $25.
